About Master of Education

Our Master of Education focuses on specialist educational knowledge and skills which prepares you for scholarship, research and leadership in the broad field of education. This course aims to meet the professional development needs of education policy makers, practitioners, school teachers and principals and researchers working in the Northern Territory, Australia and the Asia Pacific.

You are encouraged to undertake specialist studies, scholarship and research that meet personal, organisational, workplace and community interests.

You will enhance your analytical thinking, collaborative learning, project management, and transformative practice skills in localised, national and/or international settings. You will also enhance your work experience by applying professional knowledge and skills acquired throughout the course to practical contexts and settings.

What will I study?

The Master of Education offers 2 core units, which equip students with contemporary educational and research perspectives and approaches. The programme concludes with a capstone experience which centres on scholarly and/or research activities which can be theoretically focused or linked to an industry-based internship. The programme also offers a choice of specialist electives. A candidate must successfully complete units totalling 120 credit points (cp) as detailed below. All units are valued at 10 credit points unless indicated.

Entry Requirements

Successful completion of a recognised bachelor degree, graduate certificate, graduate diploma or master's degree or equivalent international qualification.

English language requirements

To gain entry into Charles Darwin University, all Higher Education applicants must satisfy the University's English Language Proficiency Requirements for their chosen course of study. International applicants will be required to supply evidence of this at the time of application.

The minimum English language requirement for this course is met by either undertaking previous education in an English-speaking country or undertaking one of the following English language tests and obtaining the minimum requirements listed below.
