An Actuarial Science degree prepares you to evaluate risk and opportunity in a business setting, and use your findings to influence some of society’s most important economic structures. Actuarial science will prepare you to provide professional actuarial advice in Australia and other countries.

A Bachelor of Actuarial Science will give you technical and analytical skills. It covers financial accounting, microeconomics, macroeconomics and economic statistics.

You will learn about the foundations of finance, corporate finance, debt markets and fixed incomes securities and apply mathematical concepts to real-life scenarios.

This degree is accredited by the Actuaries Institute, and may allow you to achieve Part I of the Actuaries Institute professional qualification.

Entry Requirements

  • Satisfactory completion of final year secondary school, or equivalent, including English
  • Satisfactory completion of the International Baccalaureate (IB), including English
  • Satisfactory completion of the New Zealand National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA), including English
  • Completion of the Gaokao - for minimum scores, see Gaokao entry requirements (pdf, 3.29 mb)

English Program Requirements

You can meet English entry requirements if you have completed an English subject in your prior secondary studies that is equivalent to an Australian Year 12 level (score requirements also apply). Acceptable English subjects for international qualifications are detailed in the prerequisite subject requirements section below. Other English subjects may be accepted and are assessed on a case by case basis.
