<p>USQ has its main campus in Toowoomba and two other satellite campuses in Ipswich and Springfield. The<span>&nbsp;</span><strong>main campus</strong><span>&nbsp;</span>consists of buildings housing administrative, academic and support facilities, pathways, parking areas and green spaces. The university&rsquo;s library with numerous printed and digital resources provides immense support for learning, teaching and research. Adjacent to the northern side of the main entrance of the campus is the Gumbi Gumbi Gardens with over 100 plant species in a 5.4-acre land. The campus is also home to the Japanese Garden featuring a mountain stream, waterfall, central lake, the Azalea Hill and about 3-km pathways. This garden has about 230 species of Australian and Japanese trees and plants growing on it. USQ's medical centres ensure the health and well-being of the students through regular health assessments and on-time medical services. Besides this, USQ provides counselling and career-related guidance to those who need it. Each campus has several dining options that serve healthy and tasty food and beverages. Other facilities include an aerobics centre, a theatre, gymnasium with high-tech equipment, bookshop, tennis centre, childcare centre, post-office, a branch of Heritage Bank, Olympic-standard basketball courts and netball courts. Both students and faculty can access the inter-campus shuttle services provided by USQ.</p>
<p>The university offers over<span>&nbsp;</span><strong>700 specialised</strong><span>&nbsp;</span>professional degree programmes at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. The university has two faculties housing six schools each that offer programmes in various disciplines of business, management, education, law, arts, commerce, humanities, health and nursing, engineering, sciences, communication and creative arts. USQ has a separate college that facilitates indigenous education and research for Torres Strait Islanders and the Aboriginal community. The Open Access College of the university offers several special programmes that will equip students with the knowledge and skills for academic success. Besides this, it extends over 100 online programmes to facilitate flexible learning for working professionals. Its total student<span>&nbsp;</span><strong>enrolment</strong><span>&nbsp;</span>is 27,563, which includes the learners from more than 94 countries of the world. The University of Southern Queensland (USQ) is a medium-sized, regional university based in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia, with three university campuses at Toowoomba, Springfield and Ipswich. It offers courses in law, health, engineering, the sciences, business, education, and the arts. The institution was established in 1969 as the Darling Downs campus of the Queensland Institute of Technology. In 1970, the institution had provided studying programs for rural Queensland and international communities. In 1971, it became the Darling Downs Institute of Advanced Education, then the University College of Southern Queensland in 1990 and finally the University of Southern Queensland in 1992. It operates three research institutes and seven research centres which focus on a wide range of business, agricultural, scientific, environmental, and technological issues.

The University is recognised for having the largest Japanese-designed garden in Australia, Australia's largest solar integrated carpark, and a library with rainforest and water features. In 2017, the University won the international Green Gown award for its approach to sustainability focusing on renewable energy, waste reduction, water retention, and integration of sustainability into strategic planning.

In 2012, the University's archaeologists discovered the oldest Australian rock art of 28,000 years old in the Northern Territory, and in 2018, the University's astronomers discovered a new planet that orbits an ancient star almost 2 billion years older than the sun.

The University is recognised for its efforts in preventing violence against women[10] and cited as employer of choice for gender equality by the Federal Government's Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA).
