The University of the Sunshine Coast (USC) is a public university based on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. After opening with 524 students in 1996 as the Sunshine Coast University College, it was later renamed the University of the Sunshine Coast in 1999.

The university has a flagship campus at Sippy Downs on the Sunshine Coast, with more campuses at Hervey Bay on the Fraser Coast,[1] Gympie and Caboolture[3]. In 2020, USC opened a full-service campus at Petrie in Moreton Bay.

Undergraduate and postgraduate (coursework and higher degree by research) programs are available, with study areas divided into seven disciplines: business, IT and tourism; creative industries, design and communication; education; engineering and science; health, nursing and sport sciences; humanities, psychology and social sciences; and law and criminology.

<p>This program is a recognised 1-year (96 units) Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) award program.</p>
<p>A great option if you have just finished high school and want to study abroad without committing to a 3-year or 4-year degree.</p>
<p>Also a great option if you are currently enrolled at an overseas institution and only want to study abroad for a short time, while possibly earning an AQF qualification to use towards your home degree.</p>

Diploma in General Studies

<p>Courses that involve field trips may require a degree of physical fitness and mobility. Some items of personal equipment will need to be provided/purchased by the students.</p>
<p>Students will complete 20-40 days of supervised outdoor environmental studies fieldwork (depending on elective choices) in local natural environments and the Fraser Island World Heritage Area.</p>
<p>The University will meet most costs of the field trips, but students will be required to pay for their own food. Students may also elect to participate in some additional private trips to refine their skills, knowledge and experience.</p>
<h4>Recommended prior study</h4>
<p>English and at least one of the sciences.</p>
<h4>Additional entry information</h4>
<p>International students who have completed studies relevant to the program are eligible for up to four courses credit based on the previous completed studies.</p>
<p>Applicants from a non-English speaking background must attain an IELTS (Academic) overall score of 6.0 with minimum of 5.5 in each subtest.</p>
<h4>Career opportunities</h4>
<p>Graduates will be suited to pursue careers as leaders in outdoor education, outdoor environmental studies, and/or entry-level environmental management positions.</p>
