<p>By completing this Combined Bachelor's and Master's course you will graduate with both a Bachelor of Agribusiness and a Master of Agricultural Economics.</p>
<p>In your first three years you will complete the Agricultural Science and Agribusiness (Extended Major)where you will learn both the agricultural science and fundamental business, managerial and economic knowledge and skills necessary to address the scientific and managerial challenges in food systems and value chains, followed by a semester of postgraduate study.</p>
<p>You will then complete a final year of postgraduate study in the Master of Agricultural Economics. The master's component of the course will give you an appreciation of key elements of agricultural economics, with the overall course emphasis on the application of theory to real world circumstances. The core themes of the course are - applied economic analysis, policy analysis, and agribusiness management and analysis.</p>

<p>This Combined Bachelor and Master (CBM) is a four-year accelerated program for those with an ATAR of 90 or above. Over the first three years you'll complete an extended major in Agricultural Science and Agribusiness, and some units from the Master of Agricultural Economics. You can then choose to exit after three years with an Advanced Bachelor's Degree in Agribusiness, or continue with the Master of Agricultural Economics and be awarded a Bachelor of Agribusiness and a Master of Agricultural Economics at the end of the four years.</p>

Bachelor of Agribusiness and Master of Agricultural Economics

<p>The University of Western Australia (UWA) was established in 1911 as the State's first university. It was also the first free university in the British Empire, actively promoting equal access to tertiary education for all social classes.</p>
<p>The University was established due largely to the efforts of Sir John Winthrop Hackett, who had a long-standing vision and passion to provide Western Australia with a university. Proprietor and editor of The West Australian newspaper, he chaired a Royal Commission which recommended the establishment of a university. Later he was the founding Chancellor and bequeathed more than &pound;425,000 (the equivalent of more than $32 million today) to the University.</p>
<p>There was consensus among legislators of the time that the University not only be free, but also provide tertiary education of a practical nature to help develop Western Australia's pioneering economy. At the time of the University's foundation, Perth's population was just 121,000 and its economy relied mostly on agricultural, pastoral and mining industries.</p>
